Does Channel Energy Heal Enemies?

If you're a follower of the Pathfinder campaign setting, then you're probably familiar with the concept of channel energy. Channel energy is a supernatural ability that allows a character to channel positive or negative energy into a 60-foot cone, a burst of energy that affects all creatures within its area.

One of the questions that has come up regarding channel energy is whether or not it can heal enemies. The answer to this question is both yes and no.

Yes, channel energy can heal enemies if the character is using positive energy. Positive energy is the life-force that fuels all living things, and so it can be used to heal living creatures regardless of their alignment. However, if a character is using negative energy, then it will only harm undead creatures.

So, does this mean that you can't use negative energy to heal your allies? Not necessarily. If you have a feat or other ability that allows you to redirect channeled energy, then you can use negative energy to heal your allies as long as you don't accidentally hit any undead creatures in the process.
